Sandcastle Building Competition

Service Description

Part of the Festival of the Sea Event 2026 Wales is famous for its castles, and for one day only so is Aberavon Beach! Come and build your family fortress in the sand. Everyone welcome. Build for fun, or join the competition to try and win the Golden Bucket Award or some seaside prizes. The aim is to fill the beach with sandcastles. Building equipment, accessories and decoration must be provided by the team themselves and prizes can be won! To enter the competition, teams can pre-register online here or register on the day from 11:30 at the Beach Academy desk on the beach itself. Building starts at 1pm and finishes at 3pm Winners will be announced on the day at 3.30pm Rules - Teams limited to 6 members. - Please check in or register with Beach Academy on the beach before starting to build to get your team flag number. - One team, one sandcastle. - Each sandcastle must be made of sand! - Sandcastles can be decorated - but please make sure any non-natural decorations are removed from the beach. Or if left they will be discarded by Beach Academy. - The use of shovels, hoes, spatulas and other tools (except power tools) are permitted. - Beach Academy will be selling spades and buckets on the day should you need any. - There will be prizes! - No limit on the size of your sandcastle. - Your sandcastle must be completed by the end time of 3pm. - Building cannot start until 1pm. - Winners announced at 3:30pm on the beach.
