What is it
Beach Cadets is a Marine Biology Club
for teens aged 13-18 dedicated to
studying and conserving marine life
in our seas, our marine environment
and our welsh beaches.
As a Cadet, young people study marine
biology in depth, learning field study skills
and taking part in conservation work and
national citizen science surveys.
Members, and their families, also get the
opportunity to go on field trips that are
arranged seasonally throughout the year
and take part in any of the family events
organised each month.
The Nitty Gritty Bits
When we meet?
Beach Cadets meet monthly for a 90 minute outdoor session year-round on the first Sunday of the month, whatever the weather!
That varies! Tide dependent. Members will be notified in advance.
Location / Where we meet
Rest Bay, Porthcawl CF36 3QB. The home of Beach Academy Wales using the marine habitats directly on our doorstep for outdoor sessions.
Beach Cadets is aimed at young people aged 13-18 only. No exceptions. Cadets are left unaccompanied. No charge for an adult should you wish to help out!
Parents must complete a registration form for all young people the first time they come to club. Registration is free.
Health & Safety Issues
Wear appropriate clothing for each meeting as sessions are hands-on outdoors, whatever the weather. We do, as a club, advise that your child has up to date anti-tetanus injections.
