BEACHCOMBING

Combing (or searching) the beach looking for items of interest, identifying what trash or treasure you've found and of course the chance to find something very unusual washed up on the tide

STRANDLINE SAFARI

Searching, collecting and identifying the wonderful natural treasures and creatures of this vital beach habitat. 

BEACH ART & COASTAL CRAFT

A visual arts session using natural and litter beach resources and imaginations. Lessons include sculptures, ephemeral beach art, mark making, planet friendly painting, coastal crafts and wild beach jewellery. 

PLASTIC POLLUTION / MARINE LITTER

Observe plastic pollution and marine litters for yourselves and learn about the effects it is having on marine life in the oceans and our shore and how you can help through conservation.

 

A class beach clean kit, all equipment provided, can also be booked to support this activity at an additional cost of £1 per person.

PLANTS & ANIMALS

Grouping living things, looking at their similarities and differences and easy ways to identify common species found on the beach. 

FOSSIL HUNTING

A Jurassic fossil hunt spotting, identifying and recording creatures of the past and looking at their evolution to modern day. 

ADAPTATION TRAIL

Looking at how marine animals adapt to their coastal habitats through camouflage, colour and body shape. 

BEACH BUG HUNT

What is a sea snail? Are there really green worms? Come and find out what really wriggles crawls and burrows in this beach oasis and how similar (or not!) they are to land bugs. 

TRACKS & SIGNS OF LIFE

Animals leave behind clues (like teeth marks in the rocks!) Track them down and find out which beach creature has been making or leaving them in this class challenge. 

COASTAL SCHOOL TASTER

Come to coastal school for some beach den building, driftwood wittling and salty beach games.

 

A marshmallow beach BBQ can also be booked to support this activity at an additional cost of £1 per person

REEF RAMBLING

Exploring our protected habitats the Honeycomb worm reefs, only exposed at low tide, to discover all the unusual animals that live in it and on it.

Explore and investigate the coastal features and processes of the Ogmore River Estuary where fresh water meets salt.
